If you were old enough to eat a Big Mac in the 1970's, you probably knew the Big Mac Song. When the commercial played, I would just shake my head in wonder at the boobs who couldn't remember "Two all beef patties, special sauce-lettuce-cheese, pickles - onions, on a sesame seed bun." I mean really. I think that might have been one of the first times I considered the idea that big companies didn't use "real people" in commercials. For me, this is a great 70's memory. Maybe it is because a trip to McDonald's was considered a treat. I don't know.
The Big Mac was introduced in 1968. The song came along in 1974. The commercial below is from 1975. I knew all of the words. ALL of my friends knew the words. Assuming you were born, did you?
According to Wikipedia, the song ad only ran for a year and a half. I guess that was one heck of a jingle. I still remember it word for word and note for note. By the way, that link also has a listing of the count on Big Mac Calories for different countries. Surprise...The U.S. has the highest! I couldn't find any proof online, but I sort of think the Big Mac has shrunk over the years. Take a look and compare.
