70's t shirts are immensely popular. Well, they aren't something you are going to read about in the news, but a lot of people like them and are buying them up. Some people like them for the soft broken in feel and others go for the sayings that are ironed on or printed on them. Vintage 70's shirts with band names on them are very popular, especially if they are from an actual tour that the band made. Having the names of the cities visited and the dates is even better.
Vintage clothing can be found without much problem on eBay, but you have to keep your eyes open for the particular item you want. Doing searches once or twice a week on a very specific phrase is a pretty good way to spot what you want. Part of why some of the prices for 70's t shirts can get so high is the whole scarcity issue. You never know what will show up or how often it will come back around.
For people looking for a specific, popular shirt, there are also a lot of 70's reproduction shirts being made today. These are great if you just want the look and don't necessarily care about the age of the shirt. This is actually something that fans of authentic vintage have to keep a close eye on because some sellers might try to pass one off as an original or just not know any better and think that they actually are in possession of an authentic piece of 70's clothing. If you are going to be doing much buying and you really like vintage clothes, it is a good idea to learn a little bit about what brands were commonly used back in the 70's. You wouldn't want to pay a vintage price for a reproduction you could have had for less than ten bucks.
